· Egypt is implementing the Survival Boats initiative funded by EU to address illegal migration
· The project will cover 11 governorates of Luxor, Assiut, Minya, Fayium, Qalyubia, Menoufia, Gharbia, Sharqia, Beheira, Daqahlia and Kafr el Sheikh to implement survival boat initiatives at a cost of LE 228 million
Egyptian Minister of Trade and Industry Nevine Gamea said the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency (MSMEDA) is keen to help the efforts of the Ministry of State for Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs to implement the Survival Boats initiative.
Nevine Gamea is also the CEO of MSMEDA, which has entered into a contract with the governorates of Luxor, Assiut, Minya, Fayium, Qalyubia, Menoufia, Gharbia, Sharqia, Beheira, Daqahlia and Kafr el Sheikh to implement survival boat initiatives which will cost LE 228 million.
The MSMEDA shall carry out projects to upgrade infrastructure in the 11 governorates, which is a part of European Union-funded program to address the root causes of irregular migration.
Egypt is also making efforts with the help of the EU to address irregular migration and improve living conditions in areas from which irregular migrants usually hail.
