Côte d’Ivoire is now focusing more on environment and development of green technology. To give focus on this issue, the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) with the support of the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development (MINEDD), under the Green Climate Fund (GCF) Readiness Program recently organized an event to launch the National GCF Platform. The platform is the coordinating body, to discuss Country Program priority areas with accredited entities and other stakeholders.
The launch ceremony was attended by fifty five people drawn from private sector associations, public institutions (PI); entities accredited (EA) to Green Climate Funds; entities accredited to other climate funds, including the Green Climate Fund; other technical and financial partners (PTF); and privates companies.
The platform discussed the functional architecture, mission, and finalized a two-year action plan to stakeholders. The Government of Côte d’Ivoire initiated and implemented programs to access climate finance and mobilize investments in climate projects. The government is also giving importance to capacity building among people for undertaking green projects.
Côte d’Ivoire through the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development, received a grant from the GCF to undertake an 18-month readiness program in partnership with GGGI, which is aimed to improve country’s access to GCF by supporting the accreditation of a national direct access entity (DAE) – Banque National d’Investissement (BNI).
