The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) and Sterling Exploration and Energy Production Company (SEEPCO) will be developing commercialization of gas from the Oil Mining Lease (OML) 143. An agreement has been signed between the two parties in this regard.

The execution of the deal was a great milestone since it will help to reduce gas flaring in the country. A Special Purpose Vehicle will be set up to help expand gas utilization in the country as a cleaner, cheaper and more reliable alternative form of energy.

Responding, SEEPCO Chairman, Tony Chukwueke, described the deal as an essential partnership that would help the Nigerian government to eliminate gas flaring by monetizing it.
