As a part of this broader framework for mutual progress, a sustainable agriculture project involving the Italian agro-industrial group controlled by the company Bonifiche Ferraresi S.p.A is being implemented

Algeria, a special invitee to the G7 Summit held in Rome, Italy is likely to benefit from the Rome Process, a program initiated by Italy to address its growing migration problem by focusing on the root cause of migration. Italy has unveiled the scheme recently to reduce its increasing economic burden caused by the illegal influx of migrants. While implementing the scheme, Italy maintains that it will be sensitive to the migrants and at the same to address some of the root causes that lead to large-scale migration.

 Giorgia Meloni, President of Italy met the President of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria, Abdelmadjid Tebboune on the sidelines of the G7 meeting held in Italy. The two Leaders expressed their deep satisfaction with the excellent state of bilateral relations, notably in the economic domain, where relations continue to develop in the energy, agricultural, and industrial sectors.

The talks mostly focused on the progress of projects included in the Mattei Plan for Africa in the agricultural and vocational training sectors. It also covered the joint commitment to carry out the Rome Process on migration and development agreed upon by both countries.

As a part of this broader framework for mutual progress, a sustainable agriculture project involving the Italian agro-industrial group controlled by the company Bonifiche Ferraresi S.p.A is being implemented. This project involves the development of 36,000 hectares of land with agro-industrial activities, in cooperation with Algerian partners. This is the largest investment in sustainable agriculture ever to be made by Italy on the southern shores of the Mediterranean.

President Meloni and President Tebboune went on to discuss the major international issues, also in light of Algeria’s role as a member of the Security Council for the term 2024-2025.
