The Democratic Republic of Congo enjoys major advantages in agriculture, which is largely untapped affecting 27 million people. Every year, the country spends billions of dollars on food imports. Kinshasa hosted its First Agribusiness forum recently, which estimated that around US$3 billion is lost every year, importing cereals

The Democratic Republic of Congo enjoys major advantages in agriculture, which is largely untapped affecting 27 million people. Every year, the country spends billions of dollars on food imports. Kinshasa hosted its First Agribusiness forum recently, which estimated that around US$3 billion is lost every year, importing cereals.

The government is aiming for a ten-year strategy that involves boosting farmers’ productivity, developing energy and transport infrastructures, improving the sector’s governance framework, and strengthening the human capital of the sector’s players.
