Trend Micro Incorporated, a global leader in cybersecurity solutions, has said in its report that over 22 million cyber threats were blocked in Egypt during 2020. The report reveals 2020’s cyber threat landscape, and provides strategic insight for leaders to protect and navigate their organizations better in the new normal.
Trend Micro blocked 62.6 billion threats last year, 91% of which were email-borne. An average of 119,000 cyber threats detected per minute in 2020. Trend Micro solutions detected and blocked a total of 20,258,498 email threats, and prevented just over 1.8 million (1,878,028) malicious URL Victim attacks across Egypt. It also blocked more than 44,000 (44,669) URL hosts. In addition, nearly 740,000 malware attacks were identified and stopped. .
Across the country, Trend Micro’s Smart Home Network (SHN) solutions blocked nearly 18,000 inbound and outbound attacks combined. It prevented 30 million (30,629,432) such SHN events for hackers to target or control home devices from executing malware, obtaining sensitive information, intercepting communications, or launching external attacks.
