The first edition of Gitex Africa was launched in Marrakech on May 31st, with a focus on the digital economy. The event is being attended by a large number of stakeholders from Morocco and other countries

The first edition of Gitex Africa was launched in Marrakech on May 31st, with a focus on the digital economy. The event is being attended by a large number of stakeholders from Morocco and other countries. Over 900 companies from 95 countries are participating in the show, which will have 250 lecturers at various conferences to be held along with the exhibition.

The main objective of the exhibition cum conferences is to promote the digital economy in the continent and to accelerate digital infrastructure.  It also offers international technology giants a unique opportunity to tap the growing digital ecosystem of Morocco and nearby countries. The North African country’s tech Startups and innovative SMEs are also taking part in large numbers in the exhibition.

Importantly, Chinese company Huawei is participating in Gitex Africa. The show has the theme of “Unleashing digital technology for a new Africa”.  Devices and concepts which can increase the value of government services are also on display at the exhibition, which is attracting a huge crowd.

Gitex Africa will become an annual event to be held in different countries on the continent and is billed to become the largest technology show in Africa. GITEX unifies the world’s most influential tech startups, ecosystems, economies, investors, cultures, and businesses on one stage. It is an annual consumer electronics, IT, AI, and Blockchain trade show and was launched in 1981 as GITE.
