A loud explosion followed by sparks of thick flames erupted in Lagos,
Nigeria because of a gas explosion. It was reported to have claimed
lives and caused extensive damage to nearby buildings. According to
local media, 15 deaths had taken place and debris and thick smoke were
seen over a large area. An inquiry has been instituted to find how
the explosion had taken place.
Apparently, the gas explosion occurred as a result of truck hitting
some gas cylinders stacked at a gas processing plant. Several
Nigerians took to social media to grieve in part and also bemoan
dysfunctional systems that expose ordinary people to such hazards.
